SPEED RETRIEVE
Speed Retrieve is the sprint for dogs.  A Dead Fowl Trainer (duck) is hung at the end of the pool 2” from the surface of the water.  After marking the bird, the dog’s front paws are placed in a painted box at the 20’ mark on the dock and the handler is behind them.  Once the handler motions that his team is ready, either the lights are started or the Ready, Set, Go Command is announced.  The dog is clocked from the green light or go command until the Dead Fowl Trainer is COMPLETELY grabbed from the rig.  If your dog does not have a false start and successfully grabs the Dead Fowl Trainer in under one minutes, you will receive at least a participant ribbon.

• Each dog will take two retrieves in rotation order. For each of the retrieves the dog’s handler will signal to the dog to retrieve the bumper which is located on a rig at the end of the pool, 58 feet from the 20 foot mark on the dock
• Dog must start from the starting block with their front paws located in the starting block which is a one foot wide painted on the surface of the dock.
• The dog will run, jump from the end of the dock, swim out and retrieve the object from the pool
• The dog must snatch the object cleanly from the end of the pool before the timer stops. The dog does not need to bring the object back to the handler for a score.
