DEXTER We adopted an 8-week old Dexter in January 2008 from Rudy’s Rescue, a Labrador Retriever rescue organization in Rochester, NY. He had a tough start at life having been left abandoned with his 9 siblings and mother at a shelter in Alabama. Fortunately, Rudy’s Rescue heard about the family, and organized with its contacts across the States to ensure the pups and their mother traveled safely through the night until they reached Rochester, NY. After spending 8 months in Syracuse, NY with us, we all relocated to Arlington, VA. Dexter is best described as an extremely laid-back, black, lab-mix with an incredibly high toy drive. When Dexter is not diving off a dock, his most favorite game in the world is to chase a Frisbee! At all other times, Dexter enjoys lounging on the sofa, sleeping on our bed, squeaking squeaky toys, watching Animal Planet and eating anything that is consumable…and even things not so consumable. Dexter had his first experience both swimming and diving off a dock at a Chesapeake Dock Dogs practice session in August 2009. While he was a little hesitant at first, he soon discovered the fun and exhilaration of jumping off the dock! In Fall 2009, Dexter participated in the Chesapeake Dock Dogs Fun Jump in Adamstown, MD and his best jump was 14’ 3”. Dexter’s New Year’s resolutions for 2010 are: to improve his diving technique, attend lots of dock-diving events, and make lots of new friends.
