2009 Delaware State Calling Contest
August 22-23, 2009

Dover, DE- The weather was looking unpredictable at first on Saturday with a two hour delay for Wave #1 but the thunderstorms held off till the day was complete and the weekend was a success.  However the morning rain turned the field and dock entrance into a muddy disaster. Flip flops weren’t the best foot wear for the weekend…unless they were already brown!   Overall it was a fantastic weekend.

Several Chesapeake members achieved new titles, personal best scores, and made it to the finals. Dave Ruch and his dog Lucy earned a first place ribbon in wave #2 Junior division. They also achieved a personal best score of 16’4’’ moving their way up to the Senior division.

Ben Lambert and his dog Jacoby earned a personal best score of 12’11’’ winning 2^nd place in the Junior division in Wave #4. Jacoby also earned his Junior title at this event. Way to go Jacoby!

Sharon Rodgers and Thunder earned 5^th place in EV Top Gun with a score of 5’10’’. Thunder’s longest jump of the weekend was 20’8’’ in the Big Air competition.  Huge thanks to Sharon for all her hard work on this event.

Debbie Byrd and Sadie earned 1^st place in wave #3 Senior division with a jump of 19’’6’. Sadie jumped 19’’6’ again in the Senior finals earning 2^nd place. Congrats Sadie! Bucky Miller and Sadie won a 4^th place ribbon in Wave #1 Master division with a 20’2’’ jump.  Sadie’s longest jump of the weekend was 20’3’’.

Ed Barnes and Cooper tied for 3^rd place Master division in wave #6 with a jump of 21’2’’.

Karen Luciano and Callahan won 4^th place in the Novice division with a jump of 5’9’’.

Some other long jumps of the weekend were Dan Bryant and his dog Maggie’s jump of 17’3’’, Karen Luciano and her dog Philo Beddoe’s jumped 17’ even, and Tim Zeigler and Oreo’s jump of 16’4’’. Great job dogs!

Cynthia Eyler and her pup Wonder placed 4^th in Wave #2 in Junior division with a jump of 12’5’’. Wonder placed 2^nd in Wave #3 with his longest jump of the weekend of 13’ even.  Wonder earned 2^nd place Veteran dogs on Sunday. Great job Wonder!

Kathy Zeigler and dog Lucy achieved 1^st place in the Master division in wave #6 of a jump of 21’5’’. Lucy also placed 4^th in Wave #7 with a long jump of 21’2’’. Huge congrats to Lucy for earning 4^th place in the Master finals with a jump of 21’5’’!

Our biggest jumper of the weekend was Bella. Bella’s handler is Tim Kline. Tim must be proud of Bella’s 2^nd place ribbon in the Elite finals with a jump of 22’7’’! All the final winners jumped their longest jump of the weekend during the finals. Good timing to jump big Bella, Lucy, Sadie, and Wonder!!
