Canine Sporting Extravaganza
Virginia Beach, VA

What a beautiful Friday and Saturday for the event and the rain held off until finals on chilly Sunday. The dogs were ecstatic jumping in the warm weather outside after a lot were cooped up all winter. We'd like to sent out a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to two of our Junior Handlers. Robert Locher & Sandy earned their National Master Title this weekend and jumped to a new personal best of 20' 8". Zachary Ward has perfected handling three dogs at an event this weekend. Teak took her first event for a score of 1' 5". Zach & Diamond earned their National Junior Title and Zach & Jake earned their National Senior Titles. These kids are DockDog's future and are setting a great example.

Extreme Vertical on Saturday night kept the crowd enthralled. In Cadet EV, the crowd was cheering for Buddy, the big yellow lab, handled by Brandy Fowler. After struggling at the end of last year just grabbing 5', Brandy was thrilled as Buddy grabbed 5' 2" and 5' 4" to match his personal best. As the crowd cheered him on, Buddy went onto grab 5' 6" and all the way up to 5' 8" - his NEW personal best! All that running around the yard really paid off this year. Lil' Miss Daisy Looouuu grabbed a 5' for her second qualifying Cadet jump.

Top Gun Extreme Vertical had Mishka with Brian Rutledge grabbing 6' for his second qualifying Top Gun jump. Thunder Boomed, with Sharon Rodgers, at this event with the crowd cheering him on. Thunder grabbed 6' 6" to match his personal best. He went onto a clean grab of 6' 8" and made Sharon's weekend. When he knocked down 6' 10" for a new personal best, she was thrilled (earning a "crown" at the BBQ) and the grin still hasn't left her face. Thunder tried with all his might for a 7' grab but missed it by about an inch.

Scott Whiteley & Flying Finley took 1st Place in Big Air with a 23' 11" winning jump. He wowed the crowd earlier in the weekend with a huge, flying 25' 11" jump. In the Semi-Pro Finals, Robert & Sandy jumped to 6th Place with a 19' jump and Katie Brinton & Reggie jumped to 7th Place with an 18' 8" jump. In the Amateur Finals a brand team to the club, Dan Bryant & Maggie, won 2nd Place with a 15' 7" jump. Even with sore paws, Daisy Lou (with Carly) made the top four and finished in 4th Place with a 14' 10" jump. Despite being sick, Mishka (with Brian) jumped 14' 2" to a 6th Place Finish.
