2008 1st Annual Fire on the Dock

It was another hot and sticky summer dockdogs weekend, with lots of dogs trying to cool off in the water.  Delores and Charlie opened up their home for a great event, the 1st Annual Fire on the Dock Fest, in Union Springs, NY July 4-6.  World Qualifiers were on the line, and we saw dogs take advantage with jumps over 26'.  Two Chesapeake DockDogs members made the long trip, Jane with Peanut and Steve with Twister.

Jane, with Peanut, had fun showing off her extensive wardrobe with different vest changes for every wave.  The long drive also affected Peanut's jumping and she didn't quite make the Amateur Finals with a 15' 4" jump.  Jane also enjoyed borrowing SCRAM for a few waves.  They jumped to a National Personal Best of 18' 5".

Despite the new wardrobe of "The Wild Thing" vest courtesy of Keystone Club's Reggie, Twister was clearly exhausted from the long trip and not jumping as far as recently.  She still managed to pull out two waves of 21'3", enough to make it to the Semi-Pro finals.  There, she saved her best for last with a 21'11" jump, taking home second place and some Cabela's cash.

It was exciting to see so many dogs compete at such a great venue.  Click here to see the complete event scores.
