2008 Easton Waterfowl Festival
November
14-16, 2008
Easton, MD -
November on
the Maryland Eastern Shore – you never know quite what the weather will bring. From sunny days in the 50’s to 60’s on
Saturday to violent thunderstorms Saturday night to a cold, windy day on
Sunday, this was your typical Fall weekend.
Everyone from the Chesapeake club still had a blast in this last DockDogs
event of 2008.
For the
Pierce/Ward family, this was an event where the "student out performed the
teacher"! After the Chesapeake
Bark in the Park Event, Zach asked Jim if he could teach him how to
"bounce" the ball with Jake? Zach practiced this a few times before
and during the event and he realized how important the timing had to be in
order to make a good jump. By the end
of the event, he not only had some Big jumps but he had the biggest jump to
date for Jake - 23' 3"! Jake's First Elite Jump! When that score was announced Jim was so
excited he threw up his arm and dislocated his shoulder.
Both Pierce/Ward
handlers also earned some new Personal Bests:
Zach & Jake - 1st Elite jump -– 23’ 3” and a NEW Personal
Best!
Zach & Jake - 2nd Elite jump – 23’
Zach & Jake – earned their Master Title – 22' and 22' 2"
Zach won Top Junior Handler of the event
Jim & Jake – NEW Personal Best – 22’ 9”
Jim & Diamond – NEW Personal Best – 19’
The Sozios saw
their first event for 6-year old Youth Handler James. James handled Twister for all of her Big Air waves, showing the
veteran handlers how to stay cool with time running down. In one weekend, he already surpassed some of
Mom's and Dad's best jumps with his best for the weekend of 22’3”. He had a blast being handler for his doggy
friend, and appreciated all the encouragement from fellow competitors,
spectators, and family.
