2008 Remodeling & Home Decor Show
September 26-28, 2008

Chantilly VA - Be VERY, VERY Quiet, we're hunting Sugar Gliders!  This event had it all - home furnishings, countertops, grandfather clocks, piano players, and even something that looked like a flying squirrel.  Alas, DockDogs did not fit in with the theme of the vendors, and so competitors desperately tried to keep their excited dogs quiet so our event would not be kicked out of the hall.  No announcing, no barking dogs, a broken scoring camera, few spectators - it felt like we were at a golf match.

Despite the stress, several Chesapeake teams soared.   Lil' Daisy Lou with Taylor Rohrbaugh jumped into their very first National Pro Finals and finished in 4th place with a new National Personal Best of 22' 4".  In the Semi Pro Finals Tim Kline & Bella finished in 2nd Place (23'), Steve Sozio & Twister finished in 3rd Place (21' 2"), and Peggy Toms & Kai finished in 7th Place (18' 4").  Thunder, jumping with Sharon Rodgers, had a grand old time eating freely from a 40lb bag of dogfood Saturday night.  With his big, swollen belly he lumbered down the dock and jumped to an 8th Place finish (17' 10") in the Semi Pro Finals and almost splashed all of the water out of the pool on both his landings.

In the Amateur Finals, Youth Handler Zachary Ward & Jake won their very first, 1st Place National Finals medal with an 18' 6" jump.  Paige Jones was kept busy handling both Mia (2nd Place - 17' 4") and Lewis (8th Place - 13' 10") in the same finals.  Sandy, with Terry Moore, decided she STILL doesn't like jumping indoors, even if it's quiet, and finished in 4th Place (13').  Susan Hetrick and her puppy Coleman made their first National Finals this weekend.  Coleman's got a great sit/stay for such a young boy and jumped 15' 6" for a 6th Place finish.

In Speed Retrieve, Jasper and Bella, with Tim Kline, battled it out with Jasper edging out Bella by only .03 seconds for a 2nd Place finish (6.35) to Bella's 3rd Place (6.38).  Steve & Twister finished in 7th Place with a 7.59.  Extreme Vertical saw six of our club members grab successfully, with Sharon Rodgers & Thunder taking top club honors with a grab of 6' 2".

In all, this was an event that saw our club members work together under less than ideal conditions.  Congratulations to all the club members who tried their first indoor event and we hope to see you soon.  For Club Stats click here and for Complete Event Results click here
